Fundraising is our Foundation

It is how we keep our mission strong

Fundraising is crucial for Wild Fern Montessori School. Not only are we a Non-Profit school, but we are also a school rooted in our mission of Educational, Social, and Financial equity.

While Educational and Social equity may not always feel “easy”, they are pieces we can support, build, and grow with little financial help. It is the Financial equity that requires the financial support we get directly from our fundraising efforts and success.

We bring this through our Sliding Scale Tuition grants. This is directly tied to our ability to offer educational equity. Through our sliding scale tuition, we are able to welcome more families to Wild Fern and offer Authentic Montessori education to more children.

By offering Educational equity in this way, we are able to bring a little more social equity to the world. Built into the Montessori pedagogy are social justice lessons, the importance of being a steward to your community, society, and earth, and peace. Dr. Montessori fought hard to bring these lessons to the adults of her time through the education of children. She spoke publicly at the International Congress for Women in Berlin in 1896, just to name one venue. She wrote many books on the subject, and it became a large part of her training of teachers (it still is today).

See how it is all connected? We really can’t have one without the other.

This is why Fundraising is so very important to us. Our efforts of success DIRECTLY impact our ability to make a difference and create lasting change in our world.

Our sliding scale (that is utilized by 63% of our current families)relies on our fundraising. That means the more we raise, the more we have to offer, the less our families have to pay, the bigger impact we can make.

Up until this point our fundraising efforts have been primarily spearheaded by our Executive Director, Brei Stevenson. And for those of you who do not know, she is not only our Executive Director, she is a mom, a wife, and has a full-time job as a UX Designer at Capital One. Meaning, there is only so much one mortal woman can do alone. This must be the year that we ALL step in and lend a hand. If you are here because you believe in what we do, want to offer your child an authentic Montessori education, are grateful to have been helped by our sliding scale, or are thrilled to have found a safe and welcoming community, please contribute to our fundraising efforts. We will have many ways to contribute, from sharing our events with your friends and family, volunteering, and maybe even spearheading a committee.

We love what we do, we are thrilled we make small positive changes to the world each day, we are so happy we can offer equity in any way. We also want to ensure we can do this for years to come.

With Peace,

Kate Lipka ~ Head of School
